Scrim Team

The discussion of all things TF2.

Scrim Team

Postby Scism3 » Wed Oct 14, 2009 10:52 pm

Hey Guys. The purpose of this post is to see who would be interested in getting together to form a scrim team. I know there has been talk about this in the past, but nothing ever materialized. So this is me taking the first step. I'm not sure how things are out in the rest of the TF2 universe, but I'm fairly sure we can find other clans or groups to play against.

Okay...here's my idea. I want to get a group together a few times a week for practices. Tuna and I have a few ideas for getting those who aren't used to a barrage to help you get through it (have you been introduced to Tuna's Scism factory?). With a little luck...survive it. I also was thinking of getting some people together that want to get better with one class and have a training session. Ideally I would like to have at least 8 people. Six would be the core group and 2 would be alternates. Now this isn't going to be an audition process. If you are genuinely interested, but don't think you have the chops to do it, that is what the training sessions are for. Your game will improve :) I promise :)

The first scrim I want to have is an inter-clan scrim. If we can get enough interest that want to do this and who are willing to make the practices and stuff, then maybe we can get something thrown together in a month or so.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

This sounds like fun, but working in a call center means that my shift can change at any time, and I'm usually put on the evening shift.

I miss hanging with y'all, but it's either work the late shift or find another job. :lol

You can call me Genghis Khan Tuna :)

Thanks Copy! Help is always appreciated :)

I just finished setting up with Game servers and got a small 12 person server for us to practice on. Here are some of the Maps I am thinking of having on to practice. A lot of these show Soldier and Demo, but some can be also used to cross train in other classes. I am looking for a some decent scout maps right now as well. I will also be adding the stock maps to practice on as well as a few others that are popular. I figure that should help us effectively map out some strategies.

Training Maps:

tr_walkway

tr_rocket_shooting2

tr_airshot_v0

These are just some that I want to put up because they look frustratingly fun :) Especially the last one!

Jump Elysium

Jump Pagoda

Jump Hobo2

Jump Revenge

I still play TF2 an awful lot, just not on the frgt servers cause they don't ever seem to have anyone in them. So I've kept my blade oiled and sharp as a razor, and I'm fairly decent all around so I can shift a class if need be. Weakest class being demo.

Is it bad that i thought dirty with this part of your statement? :/

K...mind out of the gutter. I have a training server

IP: 68.232.171.215:27015

it's not set up yet. I have the maps downloading and am uploading. I will need to talk to either Hi Tech or Atzecs and get some advice for fine tuning before it will be ready. But...save it to your favorites :)

Downloads take a little while so I figured i would throw links out to dl manually and install. I can probably upload them all to a rapidshare if you want to just dl one. I am looking for a few scout jump maps right now. the ones I have on the server are for Demo and Soldier. I think the first part of Dystopia can be played through with scout...but that's about it. Jump maps are optional...the only real training map that is needed is Walkway.

Maps on the server:

Training
Walkway: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/107794
Airshot: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/64670

Jump
Jump Elysium: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/112765
Jump Revenge: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/92607
Jump Yucca: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/90900
Jump Dystopia: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/88566
Jump Pagoda: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/72833
Jump Adventure: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/72527
Jump Rush: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/56641
Jump Hobo2: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/56437
Jump Bob: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/52221

What is everyone's strongest class? Mine is obviously Soldier :) I would like to focus on Soldier and maybe demo. I would like everyone to get fairly decent with 2 classes. Their main and a secondary if we need to switch out. Also...Is there anything you would like to focus on as far as not knowing how to do something. If I don't know how, then I can find someone to etiher show me, or come in and show us. Let me know guys.

Sorry I haven't posted in a little while. Trying to figure things out with the server and what's the best way to assemble. I am thinking we should be ready to go the week following Halloween. More should be coming up soon. Maybe set the first Interclan scrim for the end of November. I'll let probably have some trickles of information this week.

The list so far:
Scism3 (1. Soldier 2. I'm ok (not great) with everything else except spy)
Tuna (1. Pyro 2. Sniper?...maybe spy?)
Squirrel (1. Spy 2. Sniper?)
Solma (1. Heavy? 2. Scout?)
Doctor (1. Medic 2. ? )
RattMice (1. ? 2. ? )

Alternates:
Copyboy (1. Scout? 2. ? )

This is what I have seen as your strongest points in game. If I am wrong, please let me know so I can see what we're working with. I think the best thing to work is map strategies if no one has anything they would like to work on with their chosen classes. Feel free to contact me via this forum/Steam or PM if you should have any questions.

Thanks again guys.

I'm only really decent at scout w/ the FaN and Sandman. Which I don't think is used competitively.

I guess my other classes in order would be Soldier, Pyro, Heavy.
